Smithsonian's Museum Day Live! Indy Guide
On September 29, 2012, 1,500 museums from all over the US will participate in the Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day Live! Here is a complete list of all Museums participating in Indy. Make sure to get your tickets for the Museum your family wants to visit. Remember the Museum Day Live! ticket is only good for two people per household, per address. If you go to Museum Day Live! with more than one guest, your other guests will have to pay full admission.
Indiana State Museum 650 West Washington St Indianapolis, IN 46204 Exhibits: All permanent galleries will be open as well as special exhibits including "Science on the Edge"; "Amazing Maize: The Science, History and Culture of Corn";"REPRESENT:Celebrating Indiana's African-American Artists" and "Heartland Art: Selections from Your Indiana Collection."
Rhythm! Discovery Center 110 W Washington St. Exhibits: Learn about the science of sound and the evolution of percussion instruments as you tour through an expanded presentation of the three basic sound properties of percussion. See what a sound-wave looks like when you hit a drum on the Rhythm! Drum Wall. Hear how different mallets and hand positions create a variety of sounds on wood, skin and metal instruments in ten different interactive portals.
Indiana Historical Society 450 W. Ohio St. Exhibits: With the Indiana Experience, guests enjoy interactive experiences that bring the IHS's tremendous archival holdings to life. Whether stepping back in time, taking a high-tech touchscreen journey, trying your hand at conservation or listening to Indiana's best music, your visit is sure to please!
Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site 1230 North Delaware Street. Exhibits: The 2012 exhibit, titled "Indiana's Favorite Sons," proudly features Indiana presidential and vice-presidential candidates through the years. Some Indiana "hopefuls" are also be explored, men who tried but were never party candidates.

Conner Prairie Interactive History Park 13400 Allisonville Road. Exhibits: Conner Prairie Interactive History Park includes five themed outdoor areas, as well as an indoor Discovery Station, Craft Corner and Science Lab. Discover one of the earliest chapters of aviation history at Conner Prairie's 1859 Balloon Voyage. Experiment with the science and technology of ballooning, then soar 350 feet above the landscape in a tethered, helium-filled balloon and see the world like John Wise did!
