May 16, 2013 | 03:09 PM

Governor Mike Pence and First Lady Karen Pence will join young entrepreneurs from area schools to kickoff Lemonade Day at the Statehouse tomorrow at 11 a.m.

The Governor, First Lady and local inventor and entrepreneur, Scott Jones, will assist the Lemonade Day entrepreneurs in selling lemonade on the south lawn of the Statehouse. All proceeds will benefit charities of the children's choosing. The public is encouraged to stop by the lemonade stand and support the budding entrepreneurs by purchasing a cool glass of lemonade on Friday between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Across the Greater Indianapolis area, more than 20,000 young entrepreneurs, ranging in age from pre-school through high school, will open lemonade stands for business on Sat., May 18. Lemonade Day is a national educational initiative dedicated to teaching children how to start and operate their own lemonade stand business. Lemonade Day Indianapolis signed up more than 15,000 kids in Greater Indianapolis in 2012 and more than 20,000 kids are expected to participate this year.

Indiana is one of 30 states around the country participating in Lemonade Day. For more information or to get involved, visit www.indianapolis.lemonadeday.org.
