DETAILS: Celebrate the life, achievements, and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with
special activities and performances at The Children's Museum of Indianapolis on*
Monday, January 20, 2014. While the museum is typically closed on Mondays during the winter months, it will open for this special Monday.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day will be filled with fun and family learning opportunities including six showings of Dr. King's famous "I Have a Dream" speech film in the Lilly Theater.
Experience the slaves' flight to freedom in a planetarium show that connects to the challenges faced by Dr. King and some Americans today.
Join storyteller Portia Jackson as she tells tales of courageous children in the Civil Rights
Learn about Ruby Bridges and how she integrated William Franz Elementary School in The Power of Children: Making a Difference exhibit with live actor interpreters. And visit the Biotech Learning Center to discover more about George Washington Carver and his scientific innovations with hands-on lab sessions.
Enjoy energetic & engaging percussion music during authentic traditional West African and Diaspora drumming performances by Griot Drum Ensemble.
*While normally closed on Mondays through February, the museum will be open on this holiday.
