Picture this: the front door is blocked with snow, the kids are running around in their pajamas displaying their excitement for a snow day, and immediately plop down in front of the TV.

Or maybe you’ve spent your Saturday morning in 95-degree weather, watching herds of uncoordinated 6-year-olds following a soccer ball around a field. The second you bring the kids home, you find a trail of Gatorade bottles and kicked off soccer cleats, socks, and shin guards leading towards the PlayStation. You want to turn the TV off, but you dread the “are you kidding me?” looks that you know you’re going to receive the minute you step within a foot of the remote. Luckily, creative minds all over the world have come up with a few alternatives that are sure to keep the kids happy and excited to have artwork to display around the house.

This craft blog aims to give you step-by-step tutorials on how to keep the kids entertained and the creativity flowing. And who knows? Maybe the kid inside you will find some joy in these crafts as well.

Build an Obstacle Course

Build an Obstacle Course

November 01, 2013 | 09:34 AM

Are you looking for some new indoor actives as the seasons start to change. An all time favorite is the Obstacle Course. The best part about doing an at home obstacle course is you only need what you already have!

Make an amateur blue print of your home and then draw in some obstacles. Once you are done with one course start over and let someone else set it up. This is a fun activity the whole family can enjoy over and over again!

Here are a few idea that you could add to your at home Obstacle Course.
  • Crawling under a blanket spread on the floor
  • Carrying a bag or basket and having to collect items as they go through the course
  • Tape a line of masking tape on the floor and walk along it like a balance beam
  • Add in actions that don't require a prop — like push ups or a dance move
