27 Weeks and Amazing Movements!!

September 02, 2013 | 06:34 PM

I cannot believe I am now 27 weeks and heading into the final stretch of this Baby Journey! What an amazing Journey it is!!! This phase of my pregnancy has brought a few new changes, and for the most part, Baby Titus and I are still feeling pretty great!

What are my new changes, you ask?

Well, for one – veins. Yes, veins. Actually, just one vein – but it is big and bulgy and gross! The vein is on my upper leg, which means it is basically hidden no matter what I am wearing. I first noticed the vein this weekend, and I thought it was a bruise at first sight. I went to show Ben and he told me he thought it looked more like a vein. I think he is correct!

I was curious about this vein idea, so I did some research. It turns out varicose veins are very common during pregnancy. Varicose veins are swollen veins that may bulge near the surface of the skin. The veins are blue in color and are most likely to show up in your legs.

The varicose veins are caused by pressure from the uterus on the legs. I notice the most pain caused by this vein when I stand up after sitting for a bit.

Research shows that you are more susceptible if you stand for long periods of time – Thank you, teaching!! The good news about my new vein is that it should disappear after pregnancy.

My other new change is a very positive change and makes me not care about my vein one single bit!! Ben and I can see Baby Titus kick now!! This is such an amazing sight!!

This new belly movement usually occurs late in the evening, after dinner. When I lie on the couch, we can see movements in my belly. Baby Titus must be kicking and rolling around and trying to get comfy!!! Each night before I go to sleep, I lie in bed and shine my phone flashlight on my belly. I can always see the movements so well at this time and it is always hard for me to stop watching!

I am told that the movements will become larger and more frequent, and that I might even be able to tell if it is a teeny foot or hand causing my belly to move!

I am loving this amazing journey with Baby Titus!!!

Exciting news? Next weekend we will reveal the gender of Baby Titus at my shower!!! We have also started on the nursery for Baby Titus!! Check out our progress at http://turboteacher.me
